Solar street lights to be installed on Bau-Batu Kitang Road

KUCHING (Jan 31): Chief Minister Datuk Batinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has approved the installation of 285 solar street lights along Bau-Batu Kitang Road, said Dato Henry Harry Jinep.
The Assistant Secretary for the Second Department of Transport said he had been suggested to install solar lights by the Chief Minister during a courtesy call today and he agreed.
Accompanying Henry on his courtesy visit to Abang Johari were Batu Kittang MP Lo Khere Chiang and Serembu MP Miro Simuh.

Henry, who is also Tasik Biru MP, said the installation of solar lights was one of the components of the Bau-Batu Kitang Road upgrade project.
“The installation of these 285 solar lights is very important given the conditions along the Bau-Batu Kitang Road, which can be unsafe especially at night.
“This is due to the absence of street lights in some road locations, as well as uneven and rough surfaces that can endanger road users,” he said in a statement after the courtesy visit.
Henry also pointed out that the traffic volume on Bau-Batu Kitang Road is very high as many road users prefer shorter distances and travel times compared to Bau-Batu Kawa Road, especially during morning and evening rush hours.
“With the approval of this proposal, road users can look forward to a more comfortable and safe journey,” he added.
